Juckline in Uganda is a single mom of five, whose husband left her to struggle alone.

She earns as little as $1.70 for three hours work, if she can find it.

She’s so desperate to stop her children starving that she feeds them poisonous cassava leaves. Cassava leaves contain cyanide. If they’re not prepared right, they can cause vomiting and even death. But Juckline has to risk it. This is often all she has to feed her children. Three days a week, they go without any food at all.

Baby Isaac is badly malnourished. If he doesn’t get help to recover his health before he turns 2, his body and brain could be damaged for life.

Your kindness today will help give moms and babies like Juckline and Isaac the boost they need with emergency food and support to stop malnutrition in its tracks.

Khoun worked hard as a farmer in Cambodia, but food shortages in the rainy seasons plus overwhelming poverty meant her children were going hungry. “I didn’t have enough to buy nutritious food for my children. I felt sad and depressed that I couldn’t care for them.”

Thankfully, faithful supporters like you gave her a boost. Khoun went from barely earning enough to feed her children to growing her own vegetables, raising chickens, and saving for her children’s education.

Today, her children are healthy and her family is flourishing! She smiles as she hugs her 3-month-old baby son Mesa and says: “
I am really overjoyed and have more courage!

“She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come.”
